Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
GC Shoes Corp ("GC Shoes", "we", "us") operates goodchoiceshoes.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from our store, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We do not sell your personal information. We never have, and we do not trade, rent or licence customer or visitor data to anyone.
What we collect
When you browse
Your browser and device automatically send us technical information: IP address, browser type and version, time zone, operating system, referring site, the pages and products you view, and what you search for. We use this to load the site correctly, keep it secure, and understand which pages and products people find useful.
When you order
Your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and payment details. Card numbers are handled directly by our payment processors and are encrypted in transit — we never see or store your full card number. We use this information to take payment, ship your order, send confirmations and tracking, handle returns, and screen orders for fraud.
When you contact us
Whatever you choose to tell us in an email or over the phone — typically your name, contact details, order number, and the question you're asking. Sizing enquiries sometimes include a foot measurement. We keep this only to answer you and to improve our fit guidance.
When you subscribe
Your email address, and your name if you give it. We use it to send new arrivals, offers and occasional brand news. Every email has an unsubscribe link and we act on it immediately.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that make our store work, and only as much as each one needs:
- Shopify — hosts our store and processes orders. Shopify's privacy policy.
- Payment processors — Shopify Payments, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Amazon Pay, to take your payment securely.
- Shipping carriers — UPS and USPS, who need your delivery address to bring you your order.
- Analytics providers — to understand how the site is used in aggregate.
- Advertising platforms — Google and Meta, so we can show our shoes to people likely to be interested, and measure whether our ads work.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it — a subpoena, warrant or other lawful request — or to protect our rights or someone's safety. If our business is ever sold or merged, customer information may transfer as part of that, and this policy would continue to apply until you were told otherwise.
Advertising, and what "selling" means under California law
We want to be precise here, because the legal definition is broader than the everyday one.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Full stop.
We do share limited online identifiers — cookie IDs, device identifiers, and pages you viewed — with Google and Meta so they can show you our ads elsewhere and tell us whether those ads led to sales. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act this counts as "sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising", and you have the right to opt out of it.
To opt out, email us at info@goodchoiceshoes.com, or use your browser's cookie controls to block advertising cookies. You can also opt out directly at Google Ads Settings, Meta Ad Preferences, or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out portal. Opting out will not stop you seeing ads — they'll just be less relevant — and it will not affect your ability to shop with us.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep your cart working, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure site performance, and support the advertising described above.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, usually under Tools or Preferences. Be aware that blocking essential cookies will break parts of the store — the cart and checkout in particular. General guidance is available at allaboutcookies.org.
Because there is still no consistent industry standard for handling "Do Not Track" browser signals, we do not currently respond to them.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as we need them for accounting, tax and warranty purposes, generally seven years, as US law requires. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Customer service correspondence is kept for two years. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see below.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- give you a copy of it in a portable format;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete it;
- stop using it for marketing.
Email info@goodchoiceshoes.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first — usually by confirming details of a recent order — so we don't hand your information to someone else. We will never charge you for making a request, and we will never treat you differently for making one.
California residents have these rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what we collect and why, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf.
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, we process your information on the basis of performing our contract with you (orders), your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), our legal obligations (tax records), and our legitimate interests (fraud prevention, improving the store). You have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Automated decision-making
We do not make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Shopify applies limited automated fraud screening on our behalf — for example, temporarily blocking IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions.
Security
Our store runs on Shopify, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Traffic between your browser and our site is encrypted with TLS. We limit access to customer information to the people who need it to do their jobs. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affected your personal information we would notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email info@goodchoiceshoes.com and we will delete it.
Where your information is processed
We ship within the United States and our information is processed there. Some of our service providers, including Shopify, operate in Canada and elsewhere, and information may be processed in those countries under appropriate safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The date at the top always shows the current version. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we'll tell you by email or with a notice on the site.
